(According to the research conducted in 1992 - 2002)

SUMMARY
_____________

The results of the research and a comparative study of the efficacy of halo- inhalation therapy as a preventive measure are as follows:
comparison and evaluation of the occurrence of acute periods of respiratory disorders, of ARVI, and the analysis of sick periods causing temporary disability for the period of 6 - 7 months prior to the course of HIT with the same for the period of 6 - 7 months after the course was completed had demonstrated a considerable reduction in the number of these disorders after the sessions of HIT.

HIT had proved to be beneficial for the patients in the course of Chronic Nonspecific Lung Disease remission phase as a secondary preventive measure as they prevented complications and had extended the periods of remission.
Preventive HT courses had been also beneficial for the individuals without chronic bronchi and lung disorders belonging to the risk group for development of such problems.
The patients of this group had ARVI and acute bronchi - lung disorders that serve as the main risk factor for CLD less frequently.

A preventive application of Halotherapy in the form of two of two weeks' courses of Halo-Inhalation within a four months period had achieved a reduction in occurrence of acute respiratory virus infection both in the patients with chronic lung disorders and in the patients with the risk of development of chronic lung disorders.
The number of occurrences and the number of sick days in respiratory disorders group in the employees of the enterprises undergoing regular Halotherapy courses had been considerably reduced.
The comparative analysis of sick days was made for the period of 7 months preceding the preventive course of HT and 7 months following the course of HT.

After the course of HT the number of sick days was reduced in employees of all the enterprises.
In a group as a whole the reduction of the number of sick days exceeded 3 times (71% fewer).
The calculation and comparison of the expenses for preventive course of HT versus the losses due to sick leave payments had confirmed a feasibility of the application of HT at enterprises.

The obtained data had confirmed the efficacy of HT and HIT for primary and secondary prevention of Respiratory tract diseases.
